What we believe about the Holy Spirit

Covenant Presbyterian Church acknowledges the necessity of the work of the Holy Spirit. Without the work of the Spirit, we would remain in our sin and misery. It is the Spirit that removes our heart of stone and replaces it with a heart of flesh. Conversion is the work of the Spirit, however the work of the Spirit does not end with conversion. The Spirit is the animating force behind our spiritual growth. The continuing health and vitality of the church depends upon the work and outpouring of the Spirit. All too often the church exchanges the true power of the Spirit for the excesses of enthusiasm.
